NPC!

Your village is under attack for terrifying creatures, you are the only one able to defeat.. find heroes to help you out.

Take the role of a NPC collect rewards and go out and find Heroes to help you defend your village.

INSTRUCTIONS

Use WASD to move around, Shift to run and Space to jump.

Search your village for some gold and a weapon to you can bribe... er reward heroes to take up the quest!

DEV LOG

This is my entry for the GMTK 2023 Game jam! Its my 3rd game I have ever made myself and strictly stuck to the rule of not using AI (which I found really difficult but managed, I never used AI once, not to write script not to debug not even to write this description). I mostly copied lots of instruction from Youtube (thanks GDTitan https://www.youtube.com/@GDTitans and CodeMonkey https://www.youtube.com/@CodeMonkeyUnity) ... whether I understood them or not. I just bodged and bodged as best as I could to get things working.

I had multiple crisis over the period and spent most of my time trying to debug and get things working then I did focusing on game play and presentation. Ultimately this is not the game I had envisioned but at least its an echo, a taste of what I wanted.

That said just doing what Youtube said did bite me, the monster AI does not work at all in the build version but works fine in the editor... no idea why. (if you want the monsters to chase at least run up to them if they are ideal, but they don't attack).

Oh well, here's to next year, I hope you enjoy.
