Fox in a Game Club
Thanks for playing my 14th game and my 3rd for GDTV! I say this in almost every blog post, but I’m genuinely amazed at how far I’ve come over the past two years.
While I really wanted this jam to be a big focus and see my ranking rise, real life got in the way. I just didn’t feel inspired or motivated to make this game. I still persevered, but then I hit bug after bug after bug, which kept sapping my motivation. The game is a lot less polished than I wanted, and there are still plenty of janky bits—definitely not the game I’m the proudest of. But I’m glad I pushed through and got it out.
One of my problems was that I knew what I wanted to do but didn’t know how to build a nice story around it. Inspiration only hit the Saturday before the deadline, leaving me just Sunday to get the aesthetics right—and even then, I kept hitting bug after bug.
Even though I’m not proud of it and the process was more stressful than I would’ve liked, I’m still glad I made it. It shows how much I’ve learned—some things I struggled with in the past were much quicker to fix and implement. In my first GDTV jam, I couldn’t even make the scene, but now I built the whole thing myself.
In any case, thanks for playing, and good luck with your own games!
