This is my 48 hour entry into the SA Game Jam.
Man, I really like this game idea and wish I had more time to play around, experiment, and make it better. Unfortunately, the SA Game Jam has had a knack over the few years of being at a time that just isn't right for me.
This weekend was unfortunately hectically busy. Friday evening was really the only time I had. Saturday, I was in Durban for Icon by the Sea, and then off for a beach day with my son, which I had promised him for ages. Then I got home only to find out we had no power, so another few hours were lost there. Then on Sunday it was my partner's birthday, so I was celebrating with her. Also steam Autumn sale, which I had been looking forward to to get some games I had my eye on. And finally, to top it all off, I have an exam this Friday, Calculus A, which I'm not looking forward to and meant I had to get back to studying asap.
So I cobbled this game together. I REALLY LIKE IT and feel like it really suits my style. I loved making all the unique tiles and modelling the trees. It was heavily inspired by the art and vibe of the board game Twisted Cryptids. I really would have liked to spend more time making each tile look good, but I did what I could.
Also, unfortunately, the shader I put in broke the lighting and HDR bloom, and for some reason a bunch of particle effects wouldn't work. I wanted to make fireflies fly around, etc., but I just don't know what was causing it and didn't have time to figure out why the lighting wasn't working.
Anyway.
Thanks for playing, and I look forward to your comments :)

I think the concept for this game flew over my head. I couldn't quite understand what I was doing, I eventually got an apple and then exit and it showed "well done". Was even more confused afterwards. Music is so emotional, made me feel sad. My feelings for the game may change if I played it again and fully understood the objective.
