Arcane Siege
Edrick is moments away from brewing the last of the components needed to make him a Lich. But the infuriating Army of The Light have just breached the inner-doors of his tower.
The Arcane Stations are in overdrive pumping out the materials needed to finish off the potion.
Fight off the Army's Paladins while you collect the final components and get them to the caldron... everlasting life is with in hand!
It maybe best to read the instructions beforehand :)
Right click to move Edrick around, collect the resources and take them to the caldron... once the caldron is full Edricks quest is complete. Use resources to either fill the caldron or use them to power your abilities. If a Arcane Station is destroyed then Edrick fails.
Thank you for playing Arcane Siege, my eighth game and second entry for the Gamedev.TV game jam. This game marks just over one year of my self-taught journey in game development. In terms of moving parts and complexity, Arcane Siege is the most ambitious game I have made so far. Unfortunately, I don't think it's my best. I believe players might have a tough time understanding what needs to happen, and the mechanics aren't as smooth as I would have liked. In some ways, I should have stopped much earlier. Instead of making a game about collecting resources, I should have focused on defeating waves of enemies, as blasting enemies was a lot of fun. The resource collection and ammo mechanics were difficult to implement and, I think, made the game less enjoyable. By the time I realized this, it was too late.
I also wanted to spend a lot of time creating cutscenes, but I ran out of time. The cutscene system was new to me, and learning it just a few hours before the jam ended did not help. Even so, I'm very proud of the game. I think it looks really good and controls quite well. Most importantly, it's worlds apart from my first game for the Gamedev.TV 2023 game jam, Taxi Pickup (https://lizzard-ros.itch.io/taxi-pick-up). Arcane Siege is a real showcase of how much I have learned, and I'm really proud of it.
Thank you for reading this blog, and good luck in your endeavors!
